AS a contribution to the 2013 Year of the Artisan, the Cape Construction Expo has now officially launched its three day free-to-attend workshop programme for building and construction professionals.
To maximise the benefit for the participants, the workshop area has been split in different content zones: Strategy, Materials, Services, tools & technology, Design and sustainability, Chemicals, “How-to” and a Student zone. Each zone has a very clear focus to ensure the needs of the Western Cape construction industry are met and visitors leave the expo feeling they have achieved their goals of attending. The workshops on day one and two predominantly target large and medium sized companies and the third day covers aspects relevant for smaller companies. The expo also opens on Saturday, where it features a series of workshops for students, providing an overview of career opportunities for young people in different areas of the building and construction industry.
Workshops hosted by City of Cape Town – zoning scheme and sustainable building
The workshops hosted by City of Cape Town are among the highlights on the programme. Schalk de Jager, Professional City Planner Development Policies, Processes and Legislation at City of Cape Town will explain the new zoning scheme in Cape Town. Peter Henshall-Howard, Head of Building Development Management will help participants understand sustainable building and the implementation of part XA.
“We are delighted to welcome City of Cape Town as an active participant at the Cape Construction Expo. Our clients from the Western Cape building and construction industry have expressed a need for dialogue with the City of Cape Town; the event is an excellent opportunity to establish a dialogue’” says the Cape Construction Expo director, Stefanie Pillay.
Content by the industry for the industry
To ensure the relevance of the programme, the workshops are hosted by industry experts. “We go through great efforts to make sure that the workshops are held by experts in their field to maximise the benefit for the participants,” says Ms Pillay. Aside from local government representatives, the agenda features key associations, selected suppliers or service providers and companies presenting best practise case studies. The full workshop programme is now available on www.cape-construction.co.za.
The Cape Construction Expo is dedicated exclusively to the needs of the Western Cape building and construction industry.
