Hulamin Containers exhibited at Propak Cape from 21 to 23 October 2014. Propak is a bi-annual South African trade show focusing on the food packaging industry. The location of the exhibition alternates between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Hulamin Containers is a regular exhibitor at both exhibition locations.

Aside from visitors from the Cape region, visitors and customers from KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and a number of neighbouring countries like Namibia, Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe were received at, and welcomed to the Hulamin Containers exhibition stand. The exhibition once again provided an excellent opportunity to network and meet with customers, end-users, key packaging decision makers and representatives of the major national retail groups like Pick and Pay, Shoprite Checkers, Spar and Woolworths.

New aluminium foil container packaging products were launched for the ready-to-eat market and an exciting range of products was on display, including smooth wall aluminium foil containers and a live demonstration of heat sealed lidding capabilities. Culinary and dietetics experts from Hulamin Containers were on hand to advise food manufacturers on the most suitable shapes, sizes, lidding and presentations of aluminium foil containers for use with various types of food.

Food manufacturers were also advised on the use of foreign body protection equipment, heat sealing equipment and blocking dies suitable for use with Hulamin aluminium foil containers; and the benefits to them and peace of mind arising from Hulamin Containers’ prestigious ISO 22000 Food Safety Management and PAS 223 Food Packaging Safety Management certifications. Hulamin Containers also has OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Management and ISO 14001 Environmenatl Management certifications. These standards are recognised and valued by our local and international customers.

Awareness of the microwavability and recyclability of aluminum foil containers was promoted, as was the high local content, and the fact that all products are of a high quality and are proudly manufactured in South Africa. This was also in support of a local aluminium cluster comprising Hulamin Rolled Products, a major supplier of aluminium foil to Hulamin Containers, and Aluminium Foil Converters, a significant local supplier of high quality printed aluminium to Hulamin Containers; both of whom were represented on exhibition
stands nearby.

The exhibition stand itself, designed by Eyedentitee, and styled as a warm and inviting coffee shop, drew a great deal of attention, enthusiasm and highly complementary comments. Theresa Rinquest, Regional Manager of Hulamin Containers in the Cape, said she was delighted with the great success of the Hulamin Containers exhibition stand, and the large number of high quality enquiries and leads that were generated.
