Unique De Waterkant destination; Cape Quarter Shopping Centre’s rooftop has been transformed into the chic inner city members club, Batstone Pool.

This new concept, borne from a growing international trend in creative rooftop workspaces, provides entrepeneurs with an alternative new space to work, as well as an ideal place to network, entertain clients or revitalise.

The new concept which forms part of Batstone’s ongoing strategy to support local entreprenuers, was conceived nine months ago, and is now in full swing. The Cape Quarter Shopping Centre rooftop was identified as the ideal location, as it offered their target audience of technology and creative entrepeneurs the opportunity to have a novel meeting spot to use for both work and recreation.

According to Managing Director of Batstone Pool, Brendan Wade, “We scouted several locations and the rooftop at Cape Quarter Shopping Centre offered us everything we need from its central inner city location to its incredible views. Its a unique space that has both the charm and practical elements that appeal to guests which include local, national and international people looking for an alternative space to work and relax.”

The owners of Cape Quarter Shopping Centre, Tower Property Fund, were inspired by the business concept, and according to the company’s Executive Director Johan Malherbe, “We welcome innovation and cutting-edge initiatives, such as Batstone Pool, and believe that the concept will attract the right audience to our upmarket boutique shopping destination.”

The multi-purpose space offers guests the opportunity to do anything from having a light lunch, to running a business meeting, to just spending the day in the sun on one of the club’s many loungers.
