Sanlam Private Equity (SPE) has acquired a 60% interest in the dried fruits and nuts processing business, JAB Dried Fruit Products (Pty) Ltd. JAB Dried Fruit Products was founded by the Barnard family in 1979 in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga and has since grown into a significant processor and marketer of dried fruits and nuts both locally and abroad (website: www.jabfruit.co.za).

SPE CEO, Alton Solomons said, “We pride ourselves on forging strong partnerships and bolstering management teams in their journey to growing the business and expanding into new markets.  Our partnership with this 38 year old family-owned business is apt testimony to this, and we look forward to assisting the company in reaching its strategic growth objectives.”

SPE is a private equity business that typically acquires controlling or significant minority interests in high quality cash generative businesses, actively working with management to improve the company’s performance.

Since 1996, SPE has been, and continues to be, an active partner to high calibre entrepreneurs and management teams across a diverse spectrum of businesses. Sanlam Private Equity acts as a division of Sanlam Investment Management, an authorised Financial Services Provider (www.spe.sanlam.co.za).
