Every quarter, Investor Readiness Clinics (#WDC312) are being held by U-Start to connect creative professionals and innovative entrepreneurs with global investors.
They also offer an advisory service to assist in securing investment and funding for entrepreneurs.
The Clinics are a recognised World Design Capital (WDC) 2014 project for their ability to demonstrate design that adds value to the economy through innovation, finance, systems and social entrepreneurship and fall under the cluster of ‘Business that Builds’.
As part of WDC, U-Start’s training clinics supply practical guidelines for small creative businesses to apply for funding and investment. The clinics will provide them with the tools for preparing business plans and asking the right questions of potential funders.
The two-hour clinics will be hosted at the Bandwidth barn at no cost to creative companies that attend. The clinics will also allow creative businesses to network, connect, and possibly collaborate.
The aim is to inspire, motivate and encourage creative small businesses to be professional and have a business plan when starting or growing their businesses. Through better understanding of what makes creative businesses succeed, U-Start hope to reduce the failure rate of start-ups.
Essentially, these clinics are about giving guidelines on investment and funding to ensure that projects really do touch the lives of South Africans.
