Clifftop Colony Capital Partners, the Cape Town based financial services firm focussed on African venture capital and private equity investments, announced earlier that it will implement SAP Business One for all its investment services and portfolio clients.

SAP Business One provides for a fully integrated ERP solution to manage critical business processes such as sales, customer relations, financials and operations. In addition, the software is fully integrated with internet banking applications for treasury and accounting management as well as the online payroll solution offered by Clifftop Colony to its clients.

Prem Trojan, Head of Investment Services and Corporate Operations at Clifftop Colony, says, “Most start-ups and most SMEs struggle with the huge upfront capital outlay to build a first-class IT infrastructure to manage their business processes optimally. With this solution we can now help clients implement best practices without these upfront costs.”

Oliver Drews, CEO of Clifftop Colony, says, “SAP Business One is a crucial component of the virtuous circle we are trying to build for our clients. Better business processes means better scalability, means a better value proposition, which leads to a much more favourable fundraising environment for the client.”

Clifftop Colony currently manages the back offices of 10 clients, looking to double its client base over the next 12 months.

The first Clifftop Colony client to implement SAP Business One is Africa’s premier Social Business Media company Wyzetalk, based in Stellenbosch. Gys Kappers, CEO of Wyzetalk, says, “Right from when we started Wyzetalk, we put strong emphasis on best practices in our processes and our investor relations reporting. This, as a South African start-up, has enabled us to tap into an extremely supportive and high-profile global investor base.”

Wyzetalk has raised over R20m since the company was founded in November 2012.
