Cape Town - the place to be

“When we look at Cape Town 10 years ago, it was a great place, nobody could say it was a bad place, if you look at it today – it's better, there’s no question about it.”

Kendall Kaveney, Director of Development Facilitation for the City of Cape Town reflects on how city planning in Cape Town has changed over time.

Kaveney states that if planning approval was fast tracked, it would enable investment to happen faster. Cities such as London are following suit with major plans for the outskirts of the city happening in the next few years.

“These kinds of changes will make Cape Town a place that people will want to be in, and there’s no question about it, nobody will come here and build five hotels over the next 3-4 years if they didn’t want to be here.”

In conclusion, he reminds the government of what needs to happen to attract more international business and draws the conclusion that all can't be bad as new emerging neighbourhoods like Woodstock are booming.
