Target Rigging

The company has been in existence for 15 years with major rigging work having been done in both the Western and Northern Cape and mostly in the wine industry.

During recent years, the following major projects have been completed:

• Nederberg cellar in Paarl (2003)
• Douglas Green cellar in Wellington (2003)
• Oranje Wynkelders in Upington
• Numerous other wine cellars
• Moving part of KWV juice plant from Vredendal to Upington (2006)
• Install 16,5m long tanks at SA Breweries, Newlands (2006)
• Upgrade germination vessels at SA Maltsters, Caledon (2004) and other work
• Transport & install 2×16,5m long x 5,5m diameter tanks to Malawi Breweries (2004)
• Many over border trips to Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique as well as overseas work in Bangladesh and Tristan du Cuna

In 2007 we completed Phase 1 of the British Government’s Antarctic base which required assembly of the sections at Culemborg. In 2008, we were extensively involved in the Afrox Linde Kuilsriver project. This involved the complete project management of the 8 heavy lifts including transport, rigging studies and placing thereof. The largest of these was a cold box (35m long x 5m wide x 4,5m high and weighing 70 ton) which had to be placed in a vertical position.

Target Rigging has also been involved with outages at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station and this is ongoing. In addition, we continue to transport luxury boats and boilers. See attached photograph.

Internationally, we have installed 2 x textile printers (18 x 12m containers) in Bangladesh and moved 2 beer tanks of 16,5m length to Malawi as well as installed a crane at Tristan du Cuna.

The company has approx 30 staff of which 5 are “office/ operational” and the other 25 are in the field. However, we have hired in additional engineering resources in the past on large projects. For transport purposes, we have excellent subcontractors.

In recent years, we have expanded into engineering such as fabrication as this is closely aligned to rigging. We have access to all facets of engineering including electrical engineering.

Our fleet is regularly being expanded and improved. From a small base, we now have a medium sized company with crane trucks of all sizes, mechanical horses, suitable trailers and forklifts. Our equipment also includes 4 porta-power jacks that can raise 100 tons each. Some of this equipment is job specific and has been designed and manufactured in our workshop.

With D & H Cranes (50% owned by Target Rigging), we have our first 30 ton mobile crane.
