What’s on at The Baxter

Dear Friends of the Baxter

As we wind down 2022 and herald in a new year, we would like to thank you, our valued Baxter patrons, friends and #BaxterCoffeeAngels, for your continued support during the year.

Comedy dominates The Baxter’s festive season line-up culminating in one of Cape Town’s most popular and exciting New Year’s Eve parties. Set to be a highlight on the Mother City’s event calendar and true to tradition, some of the artists will lead the countdown to welcome in 2023. There are three shows to choose from on 31 December (Aunty MerlePlatform 9 and Unfit & Forty), starting slightly later that night and ending around 10 pm. Your ticket includes entrance to the New Year’s Eve festivities, which will include a DJ, and the Baxter bar that will stay open until late. If you only want to join in on the NYE celebration, the entrance is R100 (tickets here). Book early to avoid disappointment – we are always sold out!

Aunty Merle – Things Get Real! has been playing to sold-out houses for the last two weeks. Make sure to see Marc Lottering and his fantastic cast. Book here.

Television stars Theodore Jantjies, and Maurice Paige will have you in stitches in Platform 9 – Coming Home, directed by Christo Davids. This production is performed in Afrikaans. Book here.

Alfred Adriaan has added extra performances to his new one-man comedy show, Unfit & Forty. The performance on 24 December will be family friendly (PG10), and the performance on 27 December will be in Afrikaans! Book here.

Children can look forward to two productions – Cinderella and Pinocchio – by The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company from 20 – 24 December. More info below.

In January, theatre lovers can look forward to seeing celebrated theatre duo Fiona Ramsay and Graham Hopkins, directed by Robert Whitehead in Hansard, a witty and devastating portrait of the British ruling class. Take advantage of the R150 early bird discount, valid until the end of December. Book here.

A safe, prosperous and peaceful festive season to you and your families. We look forward to seeing you at our theatre over this period and in 2023.
