Apple to launch augmented reality headset and smartglasses

For how many things will you turn the car around and go back home when you realise youโ€™ve forgotten it? Your lunch? You can just buy something at the cafeteria. A jacket? maybe, depending on how late you are. Your cell phone? Hand brake turn, and we all race back home. Even if it means we will probably be late for an important meeting. Itโ€™s something we just canโ€™t live without.

Experts pose the question of how far we are fromย becoming more robot than humanย in an article by The Guardian.

Apple, one of the worldโ€™s leading technology giants, are taking it a step further with yet another development that will become intertwined with our very identities.

Their new smartglasses, two different models named the N301 and N421 will bring humans closer to cyborgs than ever before.

The word cyborg โ€“ short for โ€œcybernetic organismโ€ โ€“ย was coined in 1960 by Manfred E Clynes and Nathan S Kline, and aptly describes the global trend in which humans are becoming one with technology.

The N301, a headset using a combination of augmented reality and virtual reality, will โ€œfeature ultra-high-resolution screens that will make it almostย impossible for a user to differentiate the virtual world from the real one.ย A cinematic speaker system will make the experience even more realistic, people who have used prototypes say,โ€ย  Apple CEO Tim Cook said according to BGR.ย  The N301 is expected to be released in 2022.

On the other hand, the N421 will use only augmented reality. This will be a pair of glasses that will act as your mobile phone, presenting messages, maps, reminders and a host of other information in front of your eyes. However, these smartglasses are only due for release in 2023.
