DARG needs help to continue its food assistance programme

Hout Bay-based animal shelter, the Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG), rescues and nurtures cats and dogs that have been abused, neglected and abandoned in the past. The non-profit organisation also extends a helping hand to pet owners in their surrounding communities.

DARG currently has approximately 200 pets in their care and provide opportunities to the people of  Imizamo Yethu, Hangberg and greater Hout Bay. However, they are struggling to keep up their good work and are running out of finances.

We need your help,” said the organisation in a Facebook post. “Besides the 200 animals in our care, we are struggling to keep up with food assistance for pets in our lower-income communities, where lockdown is taking its toll. The cupboards are bare.”

The shelter is pleading with the public for donations. Food donations can be dropped off at the DARG gates. Donations can also be made via Snapscan [by scanning the photo below] or cash deposit.

Darg is also currently running a 40% off book sale at their online shop until January 31. They have a variety of titles available,  starting from R15 each.
