In true Capetonian style, businesses have reimagined the narrative of how they should operate to accommodate Level 3 restrictions. To maintain safe social distancing and good hygiene practices, business owners are getting creative with ways for you to enjoy your favourite alcoholic beverages.
The popular Foresters Arms in Newlands and the Franschhoek Beer Company have reshaped their businesses to include ‘drive-through bars’. This will reduce contact between customers and employees and offer a different way to order food and drinks.
Foresters Arms is operating through Dineplan and their website. Customers can place an order on either of these sites, choose a time to collect, then have their drinks delivered to their car. Of course, you can also order some of the delicious food Forries is known for to accompany your drinks.

Franschhoek Beer Company is operating in the same way. You order online and your order is packed, sanitised and brought to your vehicle. Club members even get a discount.
The drive-through bar is not a new concept. According to Thrillist, many states in America have drive-through liquor stores. The Alta Dena Drive-In Dairy in San Diego even lets customers drive through the store itself!
In Port Elizabeth, gentlemen’s club Candy’s has been transformed into a drive-through experience, allowing customers to purchase liquor and get a show from exotic dancers.
