Lanzerac Hotel and Spa Crowned South Africa’s Leading Wine Country Hotel

The Lanzerac Hotel & Spa has been named as South Africa’s Leading Wine Country Hotel for 2019 at the recently held gala ceremony for the World Travel Awards: Africa & Indian Ocean – the regions’ most prestigious travel and tourism event of the year. This follows the Estate being awarded the titles of Luxury Contemporary Hotel of the Year at the Africa & Middle East Luxury Travel Guide Awards; Best Luxury Hotel & Winery in the MEA Markets 2019 African Business Excellence Awards and South Africa’s Most Outstanding Country Hotel in the 2019 Global Luxury Hotel & Spa Awards.

Over and above these, Lanzerac has not only won a 2019 Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor, based on the consistently great reviews it has earned on the worldโ€™s largest travel site, it has also entered Tripadvisorโ€™s Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame thanks to it earning a Certificate of Excellence every year for the past five years.

Lanzerac General Manager, Emile Langenhoven, says: โ€œWe spent 13 months restoring the Hotel to its former grandeur following a devastating fire in 2017 and since the reopening on the 1st of July 2018, we have dedicated our time and resources to developing our five-star service and memorable guest experiences. The past two years have been a journey of growth. Winning these awards affirms that we are on the right track and inspires us to do better and be bolder in future.โ€

He adds that these wins have brought the Estateโ€™s vision of achieving worldwide recognition as the pinnacle of the winelands to fruition. โ€œOur aim, ultimately, is to attain global status as South Africaโ€™s leading wine estate and now, with the acknowledgement of the World Travel Awards, we are doing just that.โ€

Lanzerac is not only committed to putting its own property on the world stage, but also to establishing Jonkershoek as one of the best wine producing regions in South Africa and the world. โ€œWe believe that Jonkershoek has the potential to outgrow Stellenbosch in pedigree.โ€

Langenhoven believes that the Estateโ€™s numerous wins and distinctiveness in the market are due to its character. โ€œIt is the people who give the Estate its unique character. From Mrs English, to Angus Buchanan and David Rawdon, each character in the Estateโ€™s history has played a pivotal role in making Lanzerac what it is today and it is the people we employ today who continue to make it flourish.โ€

Looking to the future, he says that while the Estateโ€™s legacy of grandeur will endure, the team will continue to innovate to enhance the guest experience.

โ€œWe believe that true service is doing things for guests that arenโ€™t just part of our jobs. Itโ€™s about noticing the little things and pre-empting guest needs, adding small touches and doing this better every time. We pride ourselves on providing an experience that makes guests never want to leave – a true home away from home.โ€

โ€œWe invite everyone to come and experience the winelands at its finest through our gourmet offerings, luxurious day spa, breath-taking views of the Jonkershoek Valley and unforgettable wines that reflect its unique terroir, accompanied, of course, by our award-winning service,โ€ concludes Langenhoven.
