The stadium is able to seat more than 51 900 people, and was built in 1888. It has, however, fallen behind modern standards.
As WP Rugby had previously called Newlands Stadium home, it is expected to now become the anchor tenant of the Cape Town Stadium from 2021, but this is yet to be confirmed.
