No load shedding this week

Residents can pack away the candles and torches for the moment as Eskom announces that no load shedding is anticipated for this week.

The national power provider explains in an official statement why there is no load shedding forecasted.

“The improvement in plant performance, together with replenished diesel and water reserves over the last few days, as well as the increase of imports from Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa to 850MW, has positively shifted system performance.”

Eskom says there is still a possibility of possible power cuts but that these will only be implemented if necessary.

“The risk of load shedding remains, as the system continues to be vulnerable.”

Regular updates on the status of the power system will be available on Eskom’s digital platforms.

Residents are urged to be conservative with their electricity usage.

“We continue to appeal to customers to continue to use electricity sparingly by switching off geysers and non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.”
