Scan, click, pay — City payment done!

City customers can make use of easy and convenient online options, including scanning QR codes on their municipal invoices, to pay their accounts. The City urges residents to make use of our convenient online booking system to save time and get ahead of the queue this festive season.

‘The City has implemented a number of measures in recent months to make it easier than ever for residents to pay their municipal accounts. The latest is the integration of QR codes on account holders’ municipal invoices. Hundreds of residents have already chosen to make their payments faster and easier by simply scanning, clicking and paying. Customers are now able to scan the QR code on their invoice, clicking on the link and confirming their payment details, all using their smartphones. The code is embedded with customers’ EasyPay number and outstanding balance. This allows easy access to the payment portal, which brings accuracy, efficiency and security to the payment process.

‘The City also encourages customers to switch to emailed accounts by simply forwarding their email and contact number to: Revenue.Eservices@capetown.gov.za and customers may also submit their request to be registered on eServices or for emailed accounts via SMS to 31223. Some 582 277 residents have also chosen to make these switches.

‘These innovative, technologically-advanced approaches provide benefits for both the City and its residents. The City has the basics right: our large billing system has a 99% accuracy rate and now it is easier than ever to make payments and keep service delivery and this organisation strong and healthy. Thank you to all our account holders for their payments and continuous support. The City remains committed to improving and enhancing our service offering to residents and we once again urge customers to make use of our new online options,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.
