Summer season is just around the corner and what makes it even more exciting is that South Africans have more travel options to visit as countries are reopening with vaccination programmes in place.
According to IOL, more travellers will have the opportunity to explore the world with some destinations only accepting fully vaccinated travellers, while there may be restrictions in place for unvaccinated travellers.
South Africans now have the freedom to travel to 52 destinations, reports Skyscanner’s live interactive map. However, travellers need to provide a negative COVID-19 test or a vaccination card to travel.
South Africans may now travel to Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, DR Congo, Kenya, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Algeria in Africa.
Other destinations include the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Ukraine, Hungary, Montenegro, Lebanon, Serbia and Maldives.
Skyscanner’s map also indicated that there are 36 other countries that locals could visit, but will need to quarantine on arrival or return would be mandatory. Again, you may need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
These countries include the UK, Morocco, Austria, Croatia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cuba, Jamaica. Ethiopia, Nepal and Austria.
There are 67 countries that are keeping their restrictions in place and South Africans are advised to not travel to these countries as their borders may be closed to non-residents or non-nationals.
Among the 67 countries are Madagascar, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Australia, and Indonesia.
Flight Centre has also provided a list of countries that are open to South Africans with some restrictions and countries that are open to South Africans with testing restrictions.
