Proposed upgrades to roads in Muizenberg to add capacity, improve public transport, walking and cycling

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate is proposing road infrastructure upgrades in Muizenberg to increase the capacity of the local road network and improve public transport operations and active mobility. The public is encouraged to peruse the proposals, attend the public information days, and submit comments by 2 June 2025.

The proposed upgrades form part of the directorate’s Comprehensive Integrated Transport Plan and Congestion Relief Programme.

‘We are proposing significant upgrades to assist with the traffic flow along Baden Powell Drive for those travelling to and from Muizenberg and along some of the roads that carry high volumes of traffic within Muizenberg itself. All of these upgrades include facilities for pedestrians and cyclists to improve the safety of these vulnerable road users. These are proposals only, and I am encouraging the local residents, road users, and other stakeholders to submit their comments as we are investing in projects to keep Captonians moving. Those who are travelling along these roads and live in Muizenberg have firsthand experience of how these proposals can be further refined to better suit your needs,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
