BEKA Schréder; A great loss; General Manager Willem Frederick ‘Wimpie’ Ludwick

It is with great loss and sadness that we inform you of the passing of our General Manager Willem Frederick ‘Wimpie’ Ludwick (14-05-1966 to 06-08-2021).

When news broke on Friday the 6th of August that our beloved member of the BEKA Schréder and extended Schréder family passed, there was a sense of disbelief, shock, and deep sadness. We have not just lost a General Manager but a remarkable human being filled with kindness and love for life, and a passion and commitment to the lighting industry.

So many viewed Wimpie as a loyal friend and mentor. He always had time for everyone. Wimpie was a great source of knowledge because of his strong industry connections, and was always willing to chat and assist, any time of day or night. This earned him the massive respect around the business and industry.

Wimpie’s journey at BEKA Schréder started in January 1995 until July 2007 as Senior Sales Engineer then Regional Manager. He returned to BEKA Schréder as National Sales Manager from June 2013 until he was promoted to General Manager in March 2016. With over two decades of dedicated loyalty and passion to the organisation, we can only appreciate the time we had with Wimpie during his tenure.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Wimpie’s family during this difficult time, particularly his wife Ronell and children Chané, Rickus and Carli.

We have lost a great leader, colleague and friend.

We will send details of the memorial service when available.
