Need to stay focused in turbulent times

The Western Cape Government forecasts that the local economy in will grow faster in 2017 than South Africa as a whole and that’s good news for employers, employees and business as a whole, says Industrial Showcase-Cape organiser Johnny Malherbe. ‘We need to feed off this positive sentiment and do our bit to make it happen.’

‘It’s in turbulent times like those we are experiencing that we all need to remain focused: business will still happen, sales will still be made, and services will still need to be provided. We can’t just sit back; we need to take control of our own destinies.’

Malherbe maintains that it’s not business as usual but business as UNusual. ‘Let’s mix it up and take the challenges head on. I believe the time is right for good old face-to-face customer interactions. And one of the best ways to achieve this is by participating in the Cape’s longest-running industrial trade show, taking place at the CTICC from 15 to 17 August.’

Are exhibitions still relevant in the high-tech world we now operate in? Yes, says Malherbe, for a number of important reasons:

•   They bring your customers and active prospects to you

•   They are a perfect meeting place for pre-qualified prospects

•   They allow you to meet your market face to face

•   They enable you to demonstrate products, answer questions and overcome any objections immediately

•   They allow you to use all five senses to communicate a message

•   And they represent the marketplace bringing suppliers, buyers, purchase influencers, consultants and media together at one time and place.

‘This year we are focusing on efficiencies. With increasing interest rates, electricity and water costs – and an increasingly globally competitive market place – these issues affect everyone,’ adds Malherbe. ‘In addition to the popular exhibits we are hosting a Speaker Series where experts will be presenting on a range of topics. These talks have proven to be extremely valuable in the past.’

The Industrial Showcase-Cape is a window into the region’s engine room. Exhibitors covering almost every service or product in the industrial space will be on hand, so it’s a perfect opportunity to window shop for new service providers. At the last show representatives from more than 900 different companies were among the visitor profile.

‘Space is filling up fast for this year’s event and we’ll soon be listing the topics on offer during the Speaker Series. The CTICC is the ideal venue for an event of this nature; there’s loads of parking, it’s easy to get to and the facilities are world class,’ concludes Malherbe.
