New hotel to open in Woodstock

A new hotel will open in the heart of Woodstock in March 2019 and will add to the growing scene of creativity as it celebrates local interior design.

The hotel labelled the Stock Exchange is scheduled for completion in March 2019 and forms part of the WEX1 development aimed at providing a mix-used building that will function as a hotel along with providing residential apartments and commercial space.

The structure is designed by Vivid Architects, a local architect firm that is well known for their work which includes the iconic Crystal Towers Hotel and Spa in Century City.

Signatura Property Development and Indigo Properties are responsible for the development of the trendy new home away from home establishment.

Hotel Features

The hotel will boast 33 apartment style rooms, offering studio sized rooms, studio deluxe units and two bedrooms apartments. The rooms that are available to hotel guests will showcase one of three chosen themes, urban jungle, urban art and urban pattern.

Each room has been designed by a local award-winning interior designer, with a focus on celebrating local talent, right down to the chosen pieces of furniture which are all produced locally.

Guests will be given a ‘Woodstock design map’ that allows them to purchase similar items and support the Western Cape’s local artists and creators.

Newmark Hotels spokesperson, Kathryn Jubber, says that the Stock Exchange will utilize eco-friendly mechanisms.

“LED lighting will be used throughout the building. Further, there will be a central heating system which reduces the consumption on heating water in the building by 50%, and non-potable water will be used for irrigation,” she said.

The hotel will host an array of entertainment facilities, restaurants, retail outlets and relaxation facilities. Guests and residents will be provided exclusive access to the in-house gym that opens onto the entertainment deck.

Patrons must note that the hotel is not pet-friendly.

A pool, looking out over the city landscape, will be available on the deck of the hotel for both residents and hotel guests.

Costs for staying at the hotel are yet to be confirmed.
