Theย Southern African Vinyls Association (SAVA)ย and theย Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association (SAPPMA)ย are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of their joint industry conference, held onย Thursday, 14 August 2025 at the NH Johannesburg Hotel in Sandton.
With the overarching themeย โPVC Transformation: Driving Progress in a Changing World,โย the event attracted more thanย 150 delegatesย andย 16 exhibitorsย from across the PVC value chain, the thermoplastic pipe industry (HDPE and PVC), government, academia, media, and related sectors.
This one-day conference provided a high-level platform for strategic dialogue, technical knowledge sharing, and industry networking. The strong attendance and quality of engagement underscored the relevance of the topics addressed and the importance of fostering closer collaboration across the plastics and pipe industries.
High-profile keynote addresses
The opening address was delivered by economistย Dr Roelof Botha, who analysed the outlook for South Africaโs property sector, assessed the impact of restrictive monetary policy, and presented a cautiously optimistic view of the countryโs macro-economic resilience.

Theย PVC-focused programmeย included presentations fromย Jerrie Vermeulen (Sasol),ย Theunis Post (About Air Pollution)ย andย Tertius Ness (South Ocean Electric Wire), whileย SAPPMAโs sessions, held under the themeย โPipelines of Progress: Building Southern Africaโs Future with Reliable Thermoplastic Pipe Infrastructure,โย addressed industry standards, certification, installation practices, and infrastructure solutions. Contributions were made byย Jacques van Eck (SAPPMA),ย Mike Schutte,ย Renier Snyman (Sun Ace SA),ย Kirtida Bhana (Plastics SA),ย Mike Smart (Genesis Consulting), andย Justin Marsberg (CEISLAB).

Reflecting on the success of the conference,ย Monique Hinds, CEO of SAVA, commented:
