Mattei shaping the rail industry

With more than a century of design, manufacture and production experience in the manufacture of air compressor technology,  Mattei expanded its capability, with a range of rotary vane compressors providing exceptional flexibility, which provides technically advanced Rotary Vane Compressor solutions for both New and Retrofit rolling stock in support of onboard and infrastructure applications.

Thanks to the compactness, lightweight nature, and simple maintenance of the design, the RVR compressor packages can fit into small spaces allowing the compressor to be powered by any type of power system.

The Mattei Rotary vane technology will deliver pulse free, high quality clean air, maximum efficiency, with constant output and absolute reliability in the demanding environments of today’s railway.

The low rotational speed, not exceeding  3 000 rpm, means extremely low noise levels, no vibrations and reduced energy consumption. Unlike traditional air compressors,(Piston and Screw) no thrust bearings are used, as the Mattei compressor design utilises white metal bushes which are not subject to wear at the same output flows.

Thanks to the flexibility of design, Mattei has a compressor solution to match your system. Innovative when compared to other compressors the Mattei RVR Series, offers air flows of between 120 to 4 000 litres per minute, with pressures between seven and 13 bar. Frame-mounted compressor packages includes: compressor, motor, controls and air treatment. Oil coolers can be integrated or a remote panel. The compressor can operate Stop/Start or Continuous operation modes to meet your specific demands.

The package is designed to support the pneumatic applications in operation on today’s rail vehicles, namely; Braking Systems, Door Actuation, Suspension, Wipers & Horns, Auxiliary Panels, Pantographs and Sandboxes.

Customers can select a turn-key design or the most suitable option to integrate into their on-board systems.

The flexibility of the RVR means the compressor can be mounted independently or installed as part of a bespoke Air Generation & treatment Unit (AGTU).

Where a specific air quality is required, Mattei can provide air treatment packages to remove all residual contaminations in compliance with the BS ISO 4975:2022 Air quality classes.

Any contamination collected, is positively removed from the compressed air system without air loss.

Mattei is helping to shape the future of success in the Rail industry.
