A Day of 1000 Opportunities returns to Athlone Stadium – don’t miss out!
Mark your calendars: The City-supported A Day of 1000 Opportunities is returning to Athlone Stadium on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
Hosted by CapeBPO, the City’s special purpose vehicle (SPV), A Day of 1000 Opportunities is a direct path for job-hunting youth into the flourishing contact centre industry. The event kicks off at 08:00 and runs until 17:00. Attendees need to bring a certified copy of their IDs or driver’s licence. Marshals will be on site to show people where to go.

‘Through our service delivery agreement with CapeBPO, we’ve deliberately positioned them as an SPV to drive initiatives like A Day of 1000 Opportunities because of the massive job creation potential in the BPO sector. This isn’t just any other job fair. CapeBPO’s team, together with 12 of the biggest contact centre operators in Cape Town, will be at Athlone Stadium offering practical career guidance, interviews, and an offer to receive training for those who might not get signed up on the day. What really stands out for me is seeing the energy from young people being connected to real opportunities — and knowing that, step by step, we are helping to shorten that unemployment queue,’ said Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
Confirmed companies thus far are: ATM; Boomerang; BYC Aqua (an MCI company); Capita; Concentrix; DSG; EXL; Foundever; IGT Solutions; TP SA; TTEC and WNS/Ucademy.
Anyone interested in attending can register their attendance ahead of the 16 April event at this link: https://sayouth.mobi/View/DirectOpportunity?opportunity=2038773.
Sign-up requirements include:
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
- Youth aged between 18 and 34 years old
- Currently unemployed

‘This is a real opportunity to get your foot in the door of one of Cape Town’s most consistent job-creating sectors. The BPO industry already employs more than 100 000 people in our city, which shows just how strong the demand is. And because we continue to attract more companies in this space, that demand is only growing. So if you’re serious about finding work, this is definitely something you don’t want to miss.
And my heartfelt thanks to all the companies who will be taking part – you have all played a huge part in making this a success,’ said Alderman Vos.
‘A Day of 1000 Opportunities really shows what’s possible when the public and private sectors work together with a clear focus on jobs. Through CapeBPO’s partnerships with operators and industry players, we’re creating practical pathways for young people to enter the sector and build a career. We’re looking forward to welcoming aspiring talent and helping them take that first step,’ said Clayton Williams, CEO of CapeBPO.
