Environmental programme keeps score

GLOBAL GreenTag is a unique, world first, whole of life, whole of sustainability green product rating/certification programme that has been playing an important role in South Africa, highlighting local, exemplary, ethical product manufacturers and supporting the growing needs of the green building market with trusted, third-party assessed, certified and verified product information.

Global GreenTag’s assessment system, which is recognised by leading green building programmes globally, uses scientifically robust life cycle analysis to comparatively rank the performance of eco and health-preferred products. It provides metrics on a range of sustainability issues, including energy and water efficiency, indoor environment quality, pollution prevention, resource use, producer responsibility and detailed health impacts. Its range of programs allows environmental, health and social impacts to become consideration factors in making building product decisions, mitigating risks for professional firms and ultimately protecting building occupiers and the environment.

GreenTag programs are performance-based and use a cradle-to-grave analysis of product impacts and benefits, synergy with other products, detailed health impacts plus more specific information from programs like the Global GreenTag Modern Slavery Declaration™, the first product level declaration of its kind in the world to help eliminate incidences of Modern Slavery in supply chains.  It also provides a Product Health Declaration™ – another world first, material health transparency tool – into which progressive manufacturers fully disclose the ingredients of their products to finally receive a rating of the healthiness of their products in use, including a specific health rating of products for people with asthma and allergy sensitivities.

The GreenTag system is quantifiable and objective with different, scored levels of certification, allowing for infinite determination of which products are good, better and best, empowering the market to be more discerning and selective.

Product reports and detail are available to the public on a free-to-air website.

Ethics and transparency are core to the GreenTag product assessment services, where all areas of Corporate and Social Responsibility – Health, Environment and People – are taken into account; while vision and objectives of the company as a certification operator are monitored regularly by external stakeholders who actively contribute to the development of its Standards and Certification programs, through public consultation processes in accordance with ISO 14024 requirements.

For the market, GreenTag provides genuine green products with genuine recognition in a sea of ‘Greenwash’ that has ruled in the eco market and created confusion for buyers. Any brand can claim to be an environmental saviour with a few ‘natural’ ingredients and some sharp marketing. GreenTag cuts through the greenwash so that professionals and consumers alike can confidently choose products that have been made in the most planet-friendly ways possible and assessed using evidence based, robust, cutting edge science.

Ultimately, GreenTag takes the doubt out of buying and because buyers know they can trust the label, genuine green products earn the greatest reward of all: trust.

Driven by a purpose to protect all living systems, Global GreenTag’s goal is to have a strong and meaningful presence, globally, and to be a part of the bigger conversations across the planet to ensure this happens.

Global GreenTag is an internationally recognised, multi-award-winning, Type 1, Ecolabelling, Product Certification, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and Product Health Declaration (PHD) program operator, based in Australia, with offices in South Africa, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and the USA  (Canada, North and Latin America)and recognised in over 70 other countries.

Global GreenTag programs are formally recognised in WELL™, LEED® , BREEAM International, EarthCheck®, Green Star®, LOTUS® and the Malaysian Government’s MyHIJAU program.

These accreditations and compliances make Global GreenTag the world’s most connected Product Certification Mark and the most efficient ‘One Stop’ certification provider in the Built Environment and Business Operations sectors.
