Swiss Acino acquires Litha Healthcare

Acino, aย Swissย pharmaceutical company, has acquired South Africaโ€™sย Lithaย Healthcare.ย Litha, headquartered in Johannesburg, provides services and products to public and private hospitals, pharmacies, general and specialist practitioners, as well as government law enforcement programmes.

Acino’sย confidence inย South Africaย andย Litha’s strong position in the market, bode well for this collaborationย that aims toย maintain and further grow the pharmaceuticalย business in SA.

Thisย growth happens via additional sales of existing products, new launches of in-licensed products and acquisitions of companies or product rights.ย

To this end,ย Lithaย will provideย Acinoย with immediate access and a strong presence in the South African Market, which is key forย Acinoย to become a significant player in the African pharmaceutical landscape.ย In turn, advancedย health care products andย expertise will be accessible for South Africans.

โ€œWe look forward to joiningย Acinoย as we continue to add value to our customers and positively impact patientsโ€™ lives. The synergies between the organisations will further support our vision of being one of the top 10 pharma companies in South Africa,โ€ says Guillaume van Niekerk, Managing Directorย Lithaย Healthcare.

โ€œWe have chosenย Lithaย as they have a strong position in the market and a solid reputation in several therapeutic areas that are strategic forย Acino. With its well-established product pipeline and its long-standing relationships with licensing partners,Lithaย offers very promising prospects for the future,โ€ explains Kalle Kรคnd, CEO ofย Acino.
