Save the date for the Western Cape Smart Procurement World and Enterprise & Supplier Development Expo

The Western Cape region is committed to facilitating strategic links and market access for SMMEs within regional, national and global economies. The Smart Procurement World conference and Enterprise and Supplier Development Expo in Cape Town, from 8 to 10 April 2019, will be a platform for this development to be activated.

Being held at GrandWest Cape Town, the conference is themed ‘Walk the talk – high-impact procurement’. Debbie Tagg, COO for Smart Procurement World, says that the key focus of the event will be the unpacking of governance to produce results in procurement and to measure the impact and success of procurement policies.

“Amongst other key points of the event, our speakers will share information on how to both implement procurement innovation that will lead to high-impact procurement, and to build performing economies and organisations at a provincial level. This is the premier event in the Western Cape for bringing together the region’s government and corporate supply chains, procurement, LED and ESD professionals as well as the small business community.”

Tagg says that the conference will provide delegates with a comprehensive public procurement legal cases update. This is a critical element for public sector participants, arming them with the knowledge needed to remain compliant when undertaking tendering and contract award processes.

The private sector segments will highlight procurement board games and the ways in which corporate organisations can prepare themselves for board readiness. Other general topics to be covered for both the public and private sectors are ‘Recovery from State Capture’ and ‘Lessons learned to date from the State Capture Inquiry’.

The 6th Annual Western Cape Enterprise and Supplier Development Expo is an interactive showcase that allows the participating 150 black-owned SMMEs to fast track their organisations through the focus on local economic development.
