Cape dam levels near 60%

Locals can rejoice as the Cape’s dam levels continue to soar thanks to the much-appreciated rains of late, which are showing no sign of slowing down.

As of Thursday, July 4 2019, overall storage stands at a positive 57.2% and is expected to climb, with rain forecast for the rest of the day as well as over the weekend.

The lowest dams, Wemmershoek and Theewaterskloof, are at 48% and 48.3% respectively, a healthy improvement from their previous low 30s.

Other dams like Berg River and Steenbras Upper are sitting comfortably at 86.4% and 71.3%.

Capetonians can look forward to three days of rain in the coming weekend and week.

Saturday is predicted to kick off the showers while Monday will start the workweek off on a rainy note, followed by two rain-free days before Thursday brings more rain.

Locals are advised to drive with extra caution over these wet days, bring their umbrella along for their commute, and look forward to the overall dam levels finally reaching the 60% mark again.
