Koeberg nuclear power station launches a water desalination plant

Theย Eskomโ€™s Koeberg nuclear power station situated in Cape Town has today launched a mobile groundwater desalination plant, which will take care of the stationโ€™s water needs.

The Koeberg’s desalination plant hopes to decrease the water supply pressure from the City of Cape Town, which is experiencing its worst drought in more than 100 years.

Velaphi Ntuli, Koeberg power station’s manager said in a statement, “The desalination plant is part of Koebergโ€™s three-pronged water management strategy to address the current water shortages in the Western Cape while ensuring that the plant is able to provide safe and sustainable electricity”.ย
