New Normal

Tough times the last couple of weeks. Now passing into the last half of the lockdown, is not the best time to loose our minds as mentioned in my previous article “No time to panic”. Instead we need to pick ourselves up and face what is ahead of us, full on. To create the NEW NORMAL, with companies adopting these new principles quickly and efficiently.
Change is hard for a lot of people, but without it we loose out constant. One needs to climb on the train that is about to leave, because it is not coming back to the station. So if you miss it, you will be left behind.
Many companies have thrust themselves onto online platforms to continue business, and to try create their own normal. Meetings have gone viral and many people now work remotely where they can, and we are no exception at Shumani RSA. We have committed ourselves to team meetings and all but our production team are at it.
Though the enquiries for print may have lapsed slightly, we have been busy engaging with our new management information system (MIS). A computer system consisting of hardware and software that serves as the backbone of our organisation’s operations.
This MIS will integrate the traditionally separate areas of management, prepress, press and post press, and automate the entire printing process to boost profitability. Integration of all these processes will lead to more efficient production workflows, offer greater transparency, and accelerate the job flow. Thus making a valuable contribution to unlocking our full potential for rationalisation and optimisation. As much as a 75% increase can be expected. This is something we are definitely looking forward to.
Our goal is to change the way we do print in South Africa, to make our business world class. By introducing this new system into the working environment and servicing our clients to the highest standards. Imagine that print quote on your desk within five minutes of you sending the request. And less than an hour later its booked and approved into an effective workflow system, with an informed final delivery date. I call that world class service and that’s what we are aiming for.
So as soon as the lights go back on, we will be ready. Ready to tackle the new normal head on as an effective intelligent factory.
