AIRCOSAVER adds intelligence (and savings) to air conditioning

Air conditioning is one of the largest energy consumers in the residential, commercial and industrial sector. Thousands of air conditioners put high demands on our electricity networks and contribute to base loads.

A report from the International Energy Agency reports that by 2050 that global energy use from A/C’s will triple, reaching a level equivalent to China’s total electricity demand presently.

Many existing air-conditioners use old and quite inefficient technology.

Although improved technology is available for new units, the thousands upon thousands of older units can be up-graded; at affordable prices (vs a total replacement) using the German made AIRCOSAVER units extending the lifespan of the units and realising significant energy savings and a reduction in running costs.

These small retrofit, devices add “intelligence” to air conditioning systems and improves their energy efficiency.  Case studies from South Africa and countries around the world, with different temperatures and humidity’s regularly show savings of between 10 – 25% and as high as 40 % in very old units.

The AIRCOSAVER has sensor driven software algorithms to detect thermodynamic saturation and to optimize the compressor accordingly. When overcapacity is detected the AIRCOSAVER switches the compressor “off” and avoids inefficient overcooling.

The unit switches into “saver mode”. The fan keeps running and your system makes maximum use of the stored cooling energy in the heat exchanger. Once the stored energy is used up, the compressor can work efficiently again and is switched back on.

The set temperature in reached without the inefficient parts of the cooling cycle.  This results in significant energy saving without compromising cooling comfort.

Since the correct point to switch the compressor varies from unit to unit and changes with different weather conditions, the AIRCOSAVER is constantly adapting its settings to ensure efficient operation of your air conditioning system at all times.

As South African has just had the annual electricity increase July 1, on top of the winter tariff for June, July and August now is the best time to be thinking about the air conditioning load ahead in summer and preparing to fit these small devices to your units – 15 – 30 mins per unit to install.
