Partnership Invitation: Centres of Specialisation Programme

False Bay TVET College is proud to announce that it has been appointed by the Department of Higher Education & Training as the Centre of Specialisation for the rigger and mechanical fitter trades. As the premier training institution for riggers and mechanical fitters in South Africa, we’d like to invite you as an industry leader to join us in this exciting venture.

The College is hosting a special get-together with the leading firms in the province to discuss how you can best extract the maximum value and advantage for your business in the new training system.

These are exciting times for major industries. The changing of the guard at national government has ushered in a fresh commitment to creating jobs and market opportunities to stimulate growth. Businesses operating in the ocean economy will be familiar with government’s plans to invest in and stimulate related industries through Operation Phakisa. In the Western Cape, the provincial economic plan known as Project Khulisa stands on three growth pillars, Tourism, Agri-Processing and Oil & Gas. The Oil & Gas sector is probably poised for the greatest development, with major plans for redeveloping ports and taking a bigger slice of the rig repair industry. Construction of major infrastructure of course underpins growth plans for these and other sectors of the economy.

Among the many skills that will shortly be in great demand are those of the rigger and mechanical fitter. Whether required for deployment to oil rigs, ports, construction, engineering or transport crews, it makes good business sense to invest now in apprenticeships for these trades. It’s an investment in your future growth, profitability and sustainability. It’s incentivised through industry and SETA subsidisation of the training costs. And government is investing in the College to ensure that we take training to even higher levels.

There couldn’t be a better time for us to have this conversation. Come and join us:

  • Event: Centre of Specialisation Roadshow
