It comes as no surprise that the Mother City has made it to yet another coveted list of the world’s best cities to live in done by Deutsche Bank for their Mapping The World’s Prices Survey for 2019.
Deutsche Bank carries out an annual survey of global prices and living standards of various countries and cities around the world. This year’s report highlights some of the best places to live globally, and where to get certain products for the best price.
On their Quality of Life Index, 56 cities were listed for their stellar standards of living and Cape Town beat out some of the world’s prime travel destinations.
Coming in at number 28 on the list, the Mother City outranked cities like Seoul, Paris, Athens and London for its quality of life.
Cape Town went up one spot on the list as compared to last year and achieved higher ratings for property price vs income, pollution index and climate index. Low-rated areas for Cape Town include safety index and traffic commute time.
The world’s top 10 best places to live according to the index are:

2. New Zealand, Wellington
3. Denmark, Copenhagen
4. United Kingdom, Edinburgh
5. Austria, Vienna
6. Finland, Helsinki
7. Australia, Melbourne
8. United States, Boston
9. United States, San Francisco
10. Australia, Sydney
Cape Town also made an appearance on the list of monthly income vs rent at number 34 and the best weekend getaway destinations at a global ranking of 41. Other interesting features include the cheap dates list where Cape Town ranked 44 and the bad habits index where we ranked at 50.
Although the Mother City still has a long way to go before it reaches a top ten ranking spot, we look forward to climbing the ranks and improving our lower rated services in the years to come.
